How much do wobble balance boards cost?

The average price of wobble balance boards ranges between $14.12 – $269. Balance discs have an average cost of $22.76 while the average price of a rectangular wobble board is $155.30.

The balance discs are the cheapest type of balance board, and indeed the cheapest type of wobble balance board too.

The rectangle wobble balance boards are the most expensive type of balance board available.

This is probably attributable to the full range of motion that they offer when compared with roller and rocker balance boards.

Additionally, you’ll notice that the FluidStance balance bards are significantly more expensive when compared with the Logest and Whirly boards.

My opinion is that this is due to 2 factors; firstly, that FluidStance are a brand, and secondly that they offer a staggering lifetime guarantee on their balance boards.

There are various types of wobble balance board, hence why I have provided 2 separate tables below to separate the balance discs from the balance boards.

Are balance boards expensive?

Basic balance boards can be obtained for a reasonable price. However, if you invest in balance boards that are branded, have multi-functional properties or expensive materials, this will increase the price. The price of a balance board does not necessarily dictate the quality of the board. Instead, checking for good customer reviews, purchasing from reputable companies, and selecting a board with a good warranty length will enable you choose a board that is proportional in quality and cost.

The below factors will be influential in the cost of a balance board:

1. Type of board

2. Brand

3. Range of motion

4. Shape

5. Size

6. Quality

7. Warranty

8. Material

9. Weight

10. Weight capacity

11. Cost

Are balance boards worth it?

Type of board

The type of balance board you opt for will ultimately dictate the cost. The cheapest balance board available is the balance disc while half balance boards are the most expensive.

Brand

If you’re not familiar with a brand or a product, you could simply be purchasing a brand name as opposed to a good quality item. Sometimes in life, it’s hard to tell if you’re buying into a false economy by spending more on a brand name.

On first impressions, this sounds like the case with the FluidStance products. If you search any of their products on their page, they are by no means the cheapest.

However, credit has to be given to their lifetime warranty, the aesthetic design and the choice of quality aluminum and wooden materials. This may sway your decision to invest in one.

However, who’s to say that the other wobble boards out there won’t last you for life either? Would you buy a FluidStance board?

Another example is the Bosu balance trainer compared to the ATIVAFIT balance trainer which feature a $41.90 price difference.

Size

Some products come in a range of sizes to cater to your needs and desires. There are even kids sizes available. Some balance boards will be available in a range of sizes. This is particularly evident with balance discs and balance cushions.

The larger the balance board, the greater the price will be.

The most compact balance boards tend to be the balance discs. They also have been shown above to be the cheapest.

For instance, below you’ll see a $7.86 difference between a 13 inch and a 16-inch balance cushion.

Tip: The larger the board dimensions, the greater the stability.

Material

The thicker the material and the more grooves that the board includes, the greater the cost will be. Balance boards are primarily available in 2 types of materials, wood and plastic. Some balance boards come furnished with metal components as well.

Balance discs are available in either a cushion material which can be inflated, such as plastic, or a rigid material, such as wood or hard plastic.

If any add-ons are provided on a board, it will increase the cost.

Common examples include high-quality logos, artwork, roller stoppers and non-slip grip. For instance, by adding a grip to the Skill Board balance board, it increases the price by $10.

Furthermore, many of the roller boards feature a separate roller cylinder for balancing on. These seem to cost more than the rocker balance boards which have a curved base. It’s likely due to the fact that you need to pay for the roller too.

Balance trainers are much larger in footprint and thus require more material to make the board. Hence, why you’ll notice that they can be more expensive.

Quality

The quality of balance board tends to be related to the type of material and cost of the board itself. Properties to look out for include usability both barefoot and with shoes, hardwood material, a good warranty, mid-range price and positive product reviews.

Warranty

A balance board should have a minimum 1-year warranty. A good warranty will range anywhere from 3 to 5 years. A phenomenal lifetime warranty can be obtained for some standing desk boards, such as the FluidStance decks.

When choosing cheaper products, it’s likely that this guarantee period will be lower; this is attributable to factors such a substandard quality materials and poor design.

If you find yourself paying more for a balance board, it might be based on a lengthy warranty being provided by the manufacturer.

Personally, I would have no gripe with paying a bit more if the product featured a longer guarantee.

Weight

Stronger materials tend to be capable of withstanding more force and being more durable. For example, the cheaper woods are generally soft wood, and they don’t offer as much weight capacity as a hard wood surface.

The thicker the material, the stronger the board tends to be.

Obviously, there’s a cost associated with furnishing each item with stronger materials and also adding extra material to increase the thickness of the item.

The average balance board for an office weighs between 2.93 – 10.15 pounds. The average weight for a balance board is 4.92 pounds.

Factors that influence the weight of a balance board include the:

  • type of balance board
  • size of the board
  • thickness
  • materials used
  • density
  • quantity of cushioning and materials
