You’ll also develop an understanding of why this product has acclaimed thousands of flattering reviews despite sharp competition in the sector.
Without further ado, let’s go…

Did you know? Sitting for long periods every day has been attributed to a wide range of health effects, including increased risk of weight gain, diabetes and heart disease.
Product overview
The Ergotron WorkFit-SR, dual monitor, sit-stand desktop workstation is a premium product designed to a professional grade with a stylish black or white aluminium finish. This unit is mounted to an existing sturdy desk to conveniently transform virtually any work area into a haven where you can alternate between sitting and standing.
The design dimensions of this product make it suitable for practically anyone. The Ergotron WorkFit-SR, dual monitor, sit-stand desktop workstation is probably the best standing desk converters for tall people. The rear-mounted stand offers greater space efficiency and that complemented by the compact design of the unit makes it an ideal contender for anyone working with a tight desk space.
The large size of this sit stand desk converter also gives it the added bonus of being one of the more spacious and sturdy standing desk converters in the Ergotron range of products.
Assembly
Grab your tools, it’s playtime!
Now I know that some people are elated when an item they purchase comes self-assembled. Unfortunately for you folks, that isn’t the case with this unit. So, you’ll either need to find yourself a willing candidate that you can trust to set it up, or just roll up your sleeves and get to it.
Think about the feeling of accomplishment after you’ve created it!
For those of you who revel in the thrill of building items, this should be an enjoyable task; with the step-by-step instructions and video tutorial also provided, you shouldn’t experience any headaches either. All in all, you can expect to have it assembled and ready to go in under an hour (or perhaps a bit longer if you stop for a tea break).
The tutorial does advise to have a second person available for the section where you lift the workstation onto the desk. Additionally, there are a set of tools required, including:
1. Measuring tape
2. Phillips screwdriver
3. Socket wrench (10mm)
Once the unit is assembled and secured to the table, position your computer equipment on the unit. The cables can be looped through the tidy cable management system. Final checks to ensure that the unit is secure include raising the height of the monitors to ensure they remain in position. If issues occur with this, fear not as the video tutorial guides you through these to ensure you have tackled any of these potential snags.
Once all that’s done, you can pat yourself on the back for a job well done!
Tip: It’s probably much easier for some people to follow the video tutorial as opposed to interpreting the written instructions.
Height Range
Adjusting the height of the desk converter is a breeze, and it moves in a smooth and quiet manner which is a signature feature of Ergotron products.
Some standing desk converters have a very limited range of height adjustability, which can present ergonomic issues for taller people, especially when the unit doesn’t have sufficient range to raise the height high enough. Consequently, the person ends up having to deviate their neck so that they can see the screen.
This product boasts being able to achieve the greatest height range in the family of Workfit products, and indeed many rival products too. The height range of the standing desk converter is 58 centimeters (23 inches) which should be sufficient for the majority of heights. In fact, one of the primary selling points of this standing desk converter is that it can accommodate people from 6’2” to an impressive 6’6” (185 cm – 200 cm).
Tip: When moving the monitors, it’s important that the top of the monitor is in line with your eyes while standing or seated, this will ensure you adopt a more neutral posture and avoid deviating your neck or back to see the screen.

Compact Design
The efficient design of this standing desk converter is an excellent feature which allows the unit to be positioned in even the smallest of spaces. The fact that the workstation is mounted to the rear of the desk also contributes to the compact footprint that the product consumes.
Speaking of footprint…
Unlike many rival products, the Ergotron WorkFit-SR, dual monitor, sit-stand desktop workstation remains within the original footprint. This is attributable to the height adjustment moving in a vertical direction as opposed to upwards and outwards.
There are also various ports located throughout the unit which allows you to feed cables through so that they can be neatly kept out of your way.
Monitors
This desk converter offers you the ability to hold dual monitors. That combined with the devices tab means that you’ll be able to fit the items you need neatly without overburdening the unit or making it look cramped.
The unit can accommodate 2 monitors that are up to 24 inches each. If you enjoy being able to manoeuvre the monitors to a particular tilt or angle, then you’ll love the enhanced customization features that can be achieved with the 30 degrees tilt and impressive 360 degrees rotation of the monitors.
Furthermore, the monitors can be independently raised to a maximum of 5 inches (13 cm) higher than the keyboard, a useful feature for taller people or those who prefer a greater clearance distance between the monitors and work surface.
For those who don’t own 2 monitors, there is an alternative workstation which can hold a single monitor.
Tip: The conversion kits allow alternative displays to be achieved, e.g., a monitor arm which can hold a monitor and laptop side-by-side instead of 2 monitors.

Workspace
The work surface doubles as a keyboard and mouse tray. It moves in tandem with the top work surface, and there’s a clearance of about 4.3 inches between the keyboard tray and the work surface. There should be no hassle with the work surface handling the day-to-day activities as it can bear a weight load of 5 lbs or 2.2 kg. That is, provided you’re not leaning on top of the surface!
It’s worth noting that the keyboard tray is locked in position and can’t be adjusted inwards or outwards. However, as stated above, the monitors can achieve a 5-inch extra clearance from the keyboard tray at the highest point.
The work surface area is generously spacious at 29.5 inches / 75 cm wide, and has ample room to hold even a full-sized keyboard and mouse in a centered position. It’s also pretty deep meaning that you can perch some stationery or gadgets, such as your phone (or your beloved cup of tea or coffee) in front of the keyboard.

Integrated cable management
This is without a doubt my favourite feature of this product!
An ingenious feature of the mounting pillar is the integrated cable management system. All the necessary cables can be looped into various points on the monitor arm and conveniently hidden behind panels for a neat work area. So, less risk exists of getting tangled in cables.
Easy connectivity in arms reach…
Adjacent to the work space, you’ll find a pre-installed USB cable which allows you to easily hook up any items that you need to plug in or charge. This will be rather useful if you own a wired keyboard or mouse or need to charge up your phone. The cherry on top is that there is a cover placed over it to hide it away from dust, and most importantly, complements the aesthetics…
Tip: Extra long cables will be required to span between sitting and standing height ranges.

Verdict
There’s no denying that the Ergotron WorkFit-SR, dual monitor, sit-stand desktop workstation is a premier product. As is standard with practically all the WorkFit products, this unit is attractive, sturdy and reliable, and features some clever features that other brands don’t possess.
The sizeable height range of this monitor makes it an ideal product for anyone, especially those of a taller stature. The cable management system is also a welcome feature as it ensures cables can be directed through loops to prevent them cluttering up the desk, and then hidden behind panels for an aesthetic and tidy look.
What a great piece of kit!
It should be more than adequate for a person who intends to use this on a daily basis or indeed share it with family, friends or colleagues.
There are some basic, yet vital criteria that I require a sit-stand desk converter to have, these include:
- Being able to lean on or write on the unit without it swaying or toppling over.
- Having adequate space when typing or using the unit.
- Ensuring that the keyboard or other components do not push me away from the monitor.
- Ensuring the unit can reach the necessary heights so I do not have to deviate my posture.
- Being easily adjustable without causing excessive noise or struggling to raise or lower the height due to the weight.
- Being reasonably affordable.
- Having a good warranty.
- Having good reviews on the product.
I can confidently conclude that the Ergotron WorkFit-SR, dual monitor, sit-stand desktop workstation has met all of these criteria. It’s an outstanding solution for those who want to retrospectively convert their work area into a healthy sit stand station with an existing desk.
While it won’t be suitable for those who are seeking a portable option (I’ll include a link below to cater for your needs), it really ticks the box for those who need something sturdy, reliable and capable of holding 2 monitors.
