What is a laptop desk?
A laptop desk is a unit which is used to hold a laptop while it is positioned on a surface. The laptop desk can be positioned in a range of places including on a table, bed or even on the floor. The primary purpose of a laptop table is to increase the height of the laptop screen to make it more ergonomic to look at. Another function of a laptop desk is to hold the laptop to reduce the weight of it on your lap. Laptop tables can come equipped with coffee holders and device holders. They can also be used to hold other objects, including tablets, books or even food.
What does a laptop desk do?
Raises the height of the laptop:
Instead of crouching your neck down to look at the laptop while you sit at a desk, the lap desk increases the laptop screen height so you can look straight at the screen.
Holds the weight of the laptop:
Nursing a laptop on your knees can get tiring, especially if you need to keep your legs bent in bed to keep the laptop upright.
The laptop desk holds the laptop up while resting on the likes of a bed or couch, so your legs don’t need to carry the weight.
Keeps the laptop fan unblocked:
Sitting the laptop on your legs, bed or couch can result in the fan becoming obstructed. This can cause the laptop to overheat or malfunction if the fan is too severely blocked.
The laptop table desk eliminates this from happening since the laptop is positioned on a hard surface and allows the fans to work to their full capacity.
Prevents toasted skin syndrome:
The laptop and the laptop fan both emit heat from the components working. If the laptop is on your body, it can cause an unpleasant rash or even burns to occur, known as erythema ab igne.

This becomes a problem, particularly if you have the laptop resting on your bare skin.
Although, the heat can get through clothing and cause burns too.
The laptop desk eliminates this since the laptop isn’t resting on your legs.
Holds other objects:
In addition to holding your laptop, it can also be utilized to hold a multitude of other objects including:
- Mouse
- Tablet
- Phone
- Book
- Coffee
- Food
- Stationery
